Wedding Photography: Everything you need to know

We interviewed wedding photographer NAVALA to gather all the essential tips you need to know before hiring a photographer for your big day!

If you’re interested in adding overtime hours, you can typically purchase them at an overtime rate. Some photographers offer this option while others may not, so it's best to check with your chosen photographer.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes, I always bring extra SD cards and I use 3 cameras incase of any issues that may occur.

How long until the couple gets their images?

For weddings it is roughly 4 weeks and in peak wedding season possibly 5 weeks. Each photographer does vary so double check with them.

Can we provide a shot list?

Definitely! Especially if there are specific photos you want taken whether that be a certain pose or shots with specific guests.

What is your payment schedule?

I take a 20% deposit to secure the date and then can be paid anyway you would like. Full payment must be complete one week before the wedding.

Do you have recommendations for other vendors?

Other vendors that can be fun to add to your special day -

What are your biggest tips for wedding photography?

Make sure you have a clean space where you want your getting ready photos with nice natural lighting. If you want aesthetic photos make sure you stay in an airbnb that suits your vibe and bring music to the place you’re getting ready! Always allow extra time after you put your wedding dress on to get extra photos with your friends and family without having to rush!
