Your wedding day is one of those rare occasions where every detail feels considered - and for many brides, that includes feeling confident in their skin.
While great skin doesn’t happen overnight, a thoughtful approach in the months leading up to your wedding can make a noticeable difference to its health, hydration and overall glow. To help take the guesswork out of bridal skin preparation, we spoke with the experts at Skin Divinity on the Gold Coast. They share their advice for creating healthy, radiant skin ahead of the big day.
When it comes to preparing your skin for your wedding, how far in advance do you ideally recommend starting?
Ideally, we love to begin working with our brides around six to twelve months before the wedding. This gives us the time and space to really understand the skin, address any underlying concerns, and create gradual, lasting improvements rather than trying to achieve everything at the last minute. It also allows us to introduce treatments and active skincare slowly and safely, making adjustments along the way depending on how the skin responds.
For someone who is six months out from their wedding, what might an ideal bridal skin journey look like?
Six months is a beautiful amount of time to work with the skin. We would begin with an in-depth consultation and create a personalised treatment and homecare plan based on the bride’s individual concerns and goals.
The journey may include Cutera Laser Genesis, Customised Facials, Healite II™ LED Therapy, resurfacing, or other targeted treatments, depending on the skin. The first few months focus on creating change, improving texture, congestion, redness, pigmentation, and overall skin health. Closer to the wedding, we shift our focus towards hydration, strengthening the skin barrier, and creating that beautiful luminosity and glow.

And for brides who have left their skin preparation a little later (three months out), is there still enough time to see a noticeable difference?
Three months can still make an incredible difference to the overall health, hydration, texture, and luminosity of the skin. We simply become a little more strategic with our treatment plan. Treatments such as Skin Needling, Pico Genesis, and Clear + Brilliant can achieve incredible results within three months, particularly when paired with Customised Facials, LED Therapy, and consistent homecare. There is still so much we can achieve in that time.
We particularly love it for brides because the results are progressive; with a course of six treatments, the skin simply looks healthier, smoother, and more refined, with that gorgeous plump, lit-from-within glow that sits beautifully under makeup.

How much of achieving great bridal skin comes down to professional treatments versus a consistent at-home skincare routine? Are there any products or ingredients you particularly recommend?
They really go hand in hand. You can have very effective treatments in-clinic, but what you do with your skin every morning and evening has an enormous influence on the overall result.
We don’t believe bridal skincare needs to involve ten different products. A beautifully prescribed routine, used consistently, will generally serve you far better. Depending on the individual skin, we may incorporate ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C, peptides, antioxidants, and plant stem cells, along with nourishing oils such as sea buckthorn and vitamin A - we particularly love retinoid oils or retinaldehyde. We pair these with beautiful hydrators and barrier-supporting ingredients, as well as gentle enzymes for exfoliation, and of course, daily SPF is non-negotiable.
Most importantly, skincare should always be individually prescribed. What creates beautiful results for one bride may not be right for another.
When should a bride have her final facial or treatment before the wedding? Is there anything you would avoid doing too close to the day?
This depends on the treatment and how well we know the bride’s skin, but the final week is all about calming, hydrating, and enhancing that beautiful glow. We avoid introducing anything new or too intensive this close to the wedding.
For the final facial, we always love adding our favourite Growth Factor Ampoule and Rejuvenating Peptide Mask to deeply nourish, plump, and take that bridal glow to the next level.
What would you recommend brides do at home during the final week before their wedding to keep their skin hydrated, calm, and glowing?
Keep everything beautifully simple and consistent. Continue with your prescribed skincare, prioritise hydration and barrier support, wear SPF daily, and avoid introducing anything new. Stay hydrated, prioritise sleep where possible, and avoid picking or over-exfoliating. The final week is simply about keeping the skin calm, hydrated, happy, and balanced.
