Meet recently engaged couple Tess and Brodie!
Could you share a bit about your journey together, such as how long you've been a couple and the story of how you first met?
Brodie and I actually met through tinder at 18 years old; it was the only time I ever went against my mums rule of only going on dates with people from tinder in public and I let him pick me up from my house (in his Nan’s old car) and take me to pretty much a deserted cliff edge… I guess you could say something inside of me just ‘knew’. Almost 6 years later, here we are having moved interstate together with our 2 sausage dogs creating the life ever been dreaming of.
We'd love to hear details of your proposal. Where did brodie propose and how?
Brodie proposed on the 4/4/2024 at 4:44pm as I have a very special relationship to the number 444. I actually had absolutely no idea though and believed his lie that he got an airBNB half price and we were going away for the night with the dogs to the Sunshine Coast on a random Thursday. I only clued on about 10 minutes before when he said ‘hey, it’ll be 4:44pm soon we should take a photo with the view’. In hindsight, I can’t believe I had no idea but it made it so much more special.
The process of choosing an engagement ring is deeply symbolic. Could you elaborate on why you chose our Pear Solitaire Engagement Ring?
I have always known I wanted a simple pear shaped stone on a gold band. I just love the pear look and I made sure Brodie knew wellllll before he planned on proposing. In the most divine way though, he wasn’t able to get the ring before the proposal date so he proposed with his mums ring and said we could pick mine together and he’d already chosen where (thanks to an ad he saw from Theadore & Co where the man got given a corona — you sold him with beer hahah). I honestly feel so grateful that we got to have the experience of choosing and designing the ring together after the proposal. We wouldn’t have added the hidden halo otherwise and it truely makes the ring so much more special.
Do you have plans to get married soon and if so, can you share any details?
I always told Brodie all I wanted was a ring and to say fiancé for a while so we’re in no rush (although I already have a Pinterest board and I’m 99% set on my dress). Potentially in the next 3-5 years is the plan, but we’d love to set ourselves up financially first with some sort of property investment before we start properly planning. We’ve spoken about a destination wedding, perhaps Bali, so we will see where that lands us.
What are you most excited for in your future as a couple?
I won’t lie, I am most excited to become parents someday (I just know Brodie will make the most wonderful dad) but there’s no real timeline or rush on that yet. Apart from that I can’t wait for all the micro moments of married life where we laugh, play, adventure and grow together. And I’m sure the other moments that go with it, the challenges and the stress, will make those beautiful memories so much sweeter too. We’re just so excited to do life side by side, with a deeper commitment to our love as we enter our married era.
